Kano State Begins Larvicidal Control, Fumigation

Kano State government has begun Larvicidal control and fumigation of metropolitan areas against mosquitoes.

The measure is aimed at eliminating mosquitoes and other insects within the areas.

A statement by the Director, Public Enlightenment of the State Ministry of Environment, Ismail Garba Gwammaja says, the State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Nasiru Sule Garo led the operation of Larvicidal Control at various ponds, Refuse collection centers, Refuse disposal sites and other stagnant drainages within the metropolitan areas.

The Commissioner, who was represented by the Director Pollution Control of the Ministry, Abba Adamu Takai, further explained that apart from the Larvicidal Control they also carried out Fumigation exercise to control mosquitoes and other insects.

The Commissioner said government is desirous and passionate to the well being of its teeming populace by way of safeguarding their environment for habitable and healthy living.

Garo charged people in the state to reciprocate the gesture by putting all hands on the table to ensure regular sanitation exercise within “our homes, business places, Schools, Offices, Motor parks and other private places.”

He advised the people to always dump  waste at the designated places provided by the government to avoid blocking waterways especially during rainy season.
