Kano State Government has approved an adjustment to the 2021/2022 school calendar.
The adjustment, which affects all schools, indicates that one week is reduced from the 13 weeks earlier scheduled for the 2nd Term while one week has been added to the vacation which was earlier scheduled to be 4 weeks which will now be 5 weeks.
In view of this development, all Public and Private Primary and Post Primary Schools operating in the state are to be closed for 5-week vacation with effect from Friday 1st April, 2022 to Sunday 8th May, 2022.
A statement issued on Tuesday, by the Deputy Director Information in the State Ministry of Education, Aliyu Yusuf, said the Adjustment followed the out-cry of parents and other stakeholders on the need by the state government to allow their wards observe complete Ramadan Fast at home during the vacation considering the significance of the Holy month.
Meanwhile, Kano state Commissioner of Education, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id has appealed to parents/guardians to be vigilant on their wards during the vacation especially at this critical moment of insecurity.
Sa’id also urged the parents to engage their wards in productive activities during the vacation.
