Kano State Government has acquired the residence of the late former Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule for political development in Kano.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Kano explained that the residence will be replaced with establishment of Yusuf Maitama Sule Centre for the Advancement of Democratic Politics and Good Governance.
Garba said construction works have already commenced at the residence and the old British Council Library in Kano city.
The Commissioner said the project which would consist of a Museum and the main Centre is to be executed at a cost of N621.6m.
The Centre will among other things be engaged in capacity building, documentation and digitalization of the cultural heritage of Kano people as well as for conduct of research works.
