Kano State Government Revokes Certificate Of Operation Of Private Schools

Kano state government has announced the revocation of certificate of operation of all the private schools operating in the state with immediate effect.

Special Adviser to the governor on private and voluntary institutions Baba Abubakar Umar disclosed the decision at a meeting with the proprietors of the private schools on Saturday.

Umar said, all the schools are expected to collect new registration form to fill for new certificate to be issued.

He said the government is working towards sanitizing private schools operations and ensured adherence to established laws and guidelines.

He, therefore, charged the proprietors to pay their 10 percent tax to the government as at when due for the progress of the sector.

Umar said his return to the position of managing the private schools, should not intimidate anyone as there is no witch hunting.

Speaking on behalf of the proprietors, chairman National association of private schools owners, Kano state chapter, Alhaji Muhammad Malam Adamu, commended government’s move, saying it will further boost the education sector in the state.

He, therefore, urged the members to cooperate with the new system as it will also benefit them.
