Kano SWAN Launches 2025 Calendar
Kano State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), has launched its 2025 Annual Calendar and presented awards to many individuals for their roles in the development of sports in the state.
Nigerian Kicker observed that the occasion, which is the eleventh to be held by the Association, attracted many sports philanthropists from different segment of the society.
In their messages, Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Alhaji Shehu Dikko, commended Kano SWAN for its commitment in the development of sports in the country.
The two chairmen were represented by the Chairman of the Kano State Football Association, Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan, who also appealed to members of SWAN to redouble their efforts in the promotion of sporting activities in this part of the country.
Kano State Commissioner for Sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, commended SWAN for its efforts in the development of sports in the state.
The Commissioner who was represented by a member of the state football association, Rilwan Umar Fagge, said his ministry will continue to collaborate with SWAN in the development of sports in the state.
Chairman of the occasion and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, showered encomiums on Kano SWAN in promoting sporting activities in Nigeria.

The former NFF president who was represented by the Vice Chancellor of Sheikh Khalifa Isyaku Rabi’u University, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, also commended SWAN for playing an active role in the development of sports in the university.
Father of the day and Makaman Bichi, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, pleged his readiness for the continuous development of sports in the state.
Chairman Kano State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Zahradeen Sale, said the event was organized to bring to limelight those who have been contributing their quota to the development of sports in the state.
He gave an assurance that members of the association will continue to do their best to develop sports in the state.
Nigerian Kicker observed that among those honoured by SWAN include a traditional local boxer known as “Dambe”, Auta Mamman, accompanied to the event by his mother who became emotional by the encomium showered on her son which triggered her tears of happiness.
