Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, has joined the implementation of Governor Abba Kabir’s ambitious project to plant 3 million trees across the state, North West Nigeria.
The Commissioner demonstrated this on Monday when he led members of staff of the Ministry in planting trees in the premises of the organization.
The initiative, the Commissioner explained, “is a tep towards environmental sustainability and urban beautification”
“It is in line with the directive issued by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, mandating all Commissioners, heads of agencies, political office holders, civil servants, business communities, and households to plant trees in their homes or places of work.
“To this end, the state government has distributed seedlings to various ministries and agencies to facilitate this initiative, and the Ministry of Information received 750 seedlings, which will be planted at the ministry’s premises and its associated agencies,” he said.

Dantiye added that 50 seedlings were distributed to each of the ministry’s agencies, including Radio Kano, Abubakar Rimi Television, the Kano State Censorship Board, Triumph Publishing Company, and the Kano State Printing Press, pointing out that the seedlings were collected by the Managing Directors of the respective agencies.
In a statement, Director Special Duties of the Ministry Sani Abba Yola says, during the exercise the Information Commissioner Dantiye, planted a tree named after the former Governor of Kano State, late Audu Bako.
He also directed that trees planted should be named after all former Kano military and civilian governors to preserve historical legacy.
The Commissioner instructed all directors of the ministry and other staff to plant at least one tree in their office premises and homes, emphasizing the importance of nurturing these trees to ensure their growth.
