Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso
Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sworn in four new commissioners who were recently cleared by the state House of Assembly, Nigerian Sketch reports.
The four new commissioners include Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano state governor and an in-law to the governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
After the swearing-in, Gov Yusuf assigned portfolios to the new state executive cabinet members
The portfolio, according to Solacebase, are as follows:
1- Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso – Youth and Sport
2- Abduljabbar Garko – Land and Survey
3- Shehu Aliyu Yarmedi – Special Duties
4- Adamu Aliyu Kibiya – Commerce and Industry
According to Daily Trust, the appointment of Kwankwaso’s son has elicited reactions among some supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement who faulted the move.
Speaking, one of them who is an appointee in the government and asked not to be mentioned said, “This is not good at all for our government and the politics at all.”
“The governor has deeply involved his family members into the government and Oga (Kwankwaso) too is bringing his own son. It’s not good at all.”
