Mauritanian, Sidi Ould Tah Replaces Adesina At African Development Bank

Mauritania’s Sidi Ould Tah, has been elected as the 9th President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

His election was announced on the website of the AfDB on Thursday.

Tah takes over from Nigeria’s Akinwumi Adesina, whose tenure had come to an end.

Tah, who headed the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) for 10 years, secured 72.37 percent of African votes.

This comes after a weeklong annual meeting held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Adesina served as AfDB President since May 28, 2015. – DP
