Nasarawa Governorship: Supreme Court To Deliver Judgment On Friday

Supreme Court is set to deliver judgment on the governorship dispute in Nasarawa State, on Friday, January 19th.

Media aide to Governor Sule, Ali Abare, confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday.

This announcement follows the recent adoption of briefs of arguments from all parties involved, with the Supreme Court reserving judgment to a later date.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared APC’s Sule, the winner of the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023.

Dissatisfied with the results, PDP’s Ombugadu filed a petition at the Election Tribunal, which was granted on October 2nd.

Governor Sule contested the Tribunal’s decision, seeking redress at the Appeal Court.

However, the appellate Court eventually set aside the Tribunal’s judgment and reinstated Sule as the winner of the election.h

Recall that thee appeal to Supreme Court was filed by David Ombugadu, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
