National Troupe of Nigeria, NTN, in collaboration with Moving Image Limited, on Monday, staged an enthralling dance drama that captured the current economic and security situation in Nigeria.
Our Correspondent reports that the event, which took place at Coronation House in Kano, was specifically designed with the theme, “Akwai Mafita” (Keeping Hope Alive).
Kaltume Bulama Gana
Addressing the audience, comprising people from different parts of Nigeria, Niger Republic and Cameroon, the Artistic Director/CEO of the Agency, Kaltume Bulama Gana said, the event is to showcase community, hope and the power of art.
“This event marks a significant moment in the efforts to re-eco that theatre thrives on engagement, exchange of stories, ideas and emotions. That is why we are lauching this community theatre initiative right here in Kano.
“The Dance drama, though just entertainment, is a powerful expression of Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inspiring vision, “The renewed hope agenda.”
“So, through creativity, we hope to translate this message into a language that resonates at the grassroots level,” she said.
A cross section of audience.
Gana, also explained that by engaging with communities, they will not only spread awareness, but will open dialogue, adding that it will enable them hear the people’s concerns and aspirations and explore ways to translate hope into action.
“Akwai Mafita” (Keeping Hope Alive), is a story of hope, resilience and the collective spirit that defines our nation. Therefore, as you witness this performance, I urge you to reflect on the message it carries,” she said.
Alhaji Abdulkareem Mohammed
Earlier, the Managing Director/CEO, Moving Image Limited, Alhaji Abdulkareem Mohammed said, the initiative to hold the event in Kano is in recognition of Kano being a rich cultural state and home of Kannywood that has made the State proud.
“We should all appreciate Kaltume Bulama Gana for her magnanimity in bringing the show to Kano,” he said.
Mohammed, went down memory lane to inform the excited audience that, “Kaltume Bulama Gana is from Yobe State but came to Kano as a young Graduate to do her National Youth Service (NYSC) after which she decided to settle in Kano.
He added that Kaltume’s heart belongs to Kano hence she chose to partner with Moving Image Limited.
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi.
