By: Admin.United Nations Secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, says society cannot be free and fair without journalists.The UN Chief stated this in a congratulatory message to the two Journalists who won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Peace.Guterres said journalists who investigate wrongdoings, bring information to the citizens, hold leaders accountable as well as speak truth to power help enthrone a free and fair society.An ex-Prime Minister of Portugal who also reacted to the Nobel prize award to the journalists, condemned what he described as the growing violence and harassments against journalists both physically and online. “Free and independent journalism is our greatest ally in combatting misinformation and disinformation,” he noted.
