Nyaja Selected Wins 2023 Santii Annual Yam Festival Cup In Taraba State

Following the Santii Annual Yam Festival organized on Saturday by Mumuye Community in Taraba State, North East Nigeria, a football match was held as part of the ceremony.

Our Correspondent reports that the match was between Nyaja Selected and Old Stars played at Pantisawa town in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The match ended 1-0 in favour of Nyaja Selected.

Chief of Mumuye, Alh. Ado Adamu Mazang II, commended the players for a “wonderful outing.”

Adamu, who was represented by his media aide, Idris Abdulrahaman said, the purpose of the match was to forster unity in line with the Festival.

“We are working with our political leaders to leverage on the potentialities of Mumuye youth players and encourage them to excel.

“We would be happy seeing them playing at national level and in Europe one day,” he said.

The wining goal was scored by Aminu Ibrahim Jalo of Nyaja Selected.

Gifts were awarded to the winners which include the best player, Adamu Abdullahi (Okocha), Sadam Pala, the goalkeeper of Nyaja Selected.

The match was sponsored by Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, former member representing Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency and coordinated by Abdulmanir Bashir Bakari.

Personalities who witnessed the match include, Habibu Abdullahi Kassa(FUW), Bilyamimu Kaku, and Yakubu Mua’azu Pantisawa.
