Director-General of the World Trade Organisation ( WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has made a passionate request while addressing newsmen after meeting with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

Okonjo-Iweala was requesting for more women’s inclusion and participation in leadership roles.

Okonjo-Iweala made the request at the Nigerian Women in Leadership event on Saturday in Abuja.

The event was also attended by the Duchess of Sussex and other women.

The WTO’s DG noted that women face many challenges while trying to become leaders, and therefore called for an enabling environment for the gender.

She informed newsmen that during the deliberations, the women and the Duchess exchanged views on various issues and discussed the way forward in ensuring more women in leadership positions.

She also canvassed for an increase in the percentage of women in leadership positions at state and federal levels in Nigeria.
