Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, North West Nigeria says, information is not cheap but partnering with Editors makes it cheap.
The Governor bared his mind, on the importance of information in the development of society while receiving members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (Kano/Jigawa Forum) who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, on Monday in Dutse, the State Capital.
“You can’t get information cheap but you can get it cheap by maintaining relationship with Editors.
“It is, therefore, a privilege to receive members of the Kano/Jigawa Forum of the NGE in Jigawa,” he said.
Namadi, who is the 5th elected democratic Governor of Jigawa state, expressed the belief that the relationship between Jigawa state government and the Editors will grow for the benefit of the state.
While commending the professionalism of the Editors, the Governor promised to do everything possible to support the media houses in the state towards showcasing their potentials.
Earlier, leader of the Kano/Jigawa Forum of NGE, Dr. Sure Ya’u Sule, told the Governor that publicising the giant activities of his administration is essential for the people to know his efforts in developing the state.
“We have so many Journalists in the northern parts of the country, who are qualified to be members of the NGE but unfortunately negligible numbers of them are members.
“We, therefore, solicit the possibility of your administration hosting the Annual Conference of the NGE which will provide opportunity to sensitise the working Journalists in the state,” he said.
Sule, thanked the Governor for the warm reception he accorded members of the team.
