Police Apprehends Fleeing Suspected Armed Robbers In Akwa Ibom State

Three suspected armed robbers, believed to be terrorizing some local government areas in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria, have been arrested by the police.

A statement by the the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says dangerous weapons and stolen items were recovered from the suspects when they were arrested at Akpautong village.

The statement says, acting on credible intelligence, a surveillance team intercepted them as they were attempting to escape on a tricycle and motorcycles.

Three of the suspects were arrested while others escaped.

Those arrested are Saviour Ime Philip ‘m’ 25, Benjamin Joshua ‘m’ 29 and Simeon Monday ‘m’ 29.

Items recovered from them include two cut-size shotguns, eight machetes, one tricycle, and one motorcycle.

Others are one generator, assorted charms, various food items and one television.

Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner, Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives and property by rooting out criminal gangs in the state.

He further said the fight against crime will continue with full force.
