Akwa Ibom State Police Command has made another breakthrough to rid the state of criminality by discovering an AK-47 Rifle with an empty magazine concealed in black cult regalia in Eket Local Government area of the state, South-South Nigeria.
A statement by the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command conducted a search at an uncompleted building behind Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, Eket and made the discovery.
The statement further says the rifle is suspected to have been hidden in preparation for illegal activities.
It says under the proactive leadership of CP Baba Mohammed Azare, the Command will remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
It added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for concealing the weapon.
CP Baba Mohammed Azare appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
