Report from Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria says, a Police Officer has reportedly committed suicide.
Th incident reportedly occurred in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt during the early hours of Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as a serving police officer, Inspector Maxwell Zabu committed suicide.
According to Dez Mayorz News, Zabu, widely recognized as a committed and hardworking officer, allegedly ended his life by shooting himself at his Eagle Island residence in Port Harcourt.
The exact details surrounding the event are still unknown.
Until his death, he worked as a personal orderly and trusted aide to a former Mayor of Port Harcourt, Victor Ihunwo. Their bond was strong, with Ihunwo treating Zabu like a brother, a relationship that endured even after he left office.
His sudden death has left colleagues and members of the community in deep shock and mourning, as he was held in high regard by those who knew him.
At the time this report, Rivers State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
