A report from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, South-South Nigeria says, the State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered his stolen vehicle in Ikot Ekpene.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says the suspect was kidnapped along Okop Eto Road and taken to an unknown destination by the kidnappers.
It said based on credible intelligence, operatives of the command immediately swung into action and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.
The statement further said, overwhelmed by superior firepower, the hoodlums fled with severe gunshot injuries, leaving the victim unharmed. The victim has since been reunited with his family.
The Command says efforts are in top gear to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The State Police Commissioner, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the officers for their swift response and assured residents of the Command’s readiness to fight criminal elements in the state.
He also advised them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
