If you want a lasting and positive change in your life then engage in reading.
The only solution to achieving a life long success is reading – this is still elusive in the education sector development in Nigeria. It is time for the people to adopt a reading culture.
If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got, thus the desired future position will not be achieved unless the performance gap is bridged through reading which will inturn bring about a dramatic change in your life.
Change, as you know, is another word for Reading.
Those theories of Reading will also be theories of changing.
Those who are always Reading are those who can ride the waves of change and who see a changing world as full of opportunities rather than of damage. In other words, the world belongs to readers.
Readers are the ones most likely to be, one might say or precisely, if you want to be in control of your change, take Reading more seriously.
If you were the best student, you could be, what qualities would you possess?
You may answer that those qualities would include intelligence, mathematical ability, language skills etc.
The above parameters, as good as they appear to be, cannot take you too far. You also need qualities to ensure that what you are reading will stick in your mind and senses and ripen into genuine understanding.
For that to happen, you need the elements of Reading… the human qualities that enable you to read what you need (choose) to know and achieve.
You’re probably not given these elements of Reading much thought.
Not many people have, even those who devote their lives to teaching. Yet these elements are critical important to your welfare as students and teachers alike.
Being a good student is a means to an end beyond the obvious. It’s one of the principal means by which you learn about life in all its complexity and wonder.
Only through knowledge of yourself and the world around you that you can form yourself fully.
Through Studying and Reading you understand who you are, what you want to achieve and how you can achieve it.
The elements of Reading are, therefore, the qualities you need to become the person you want to be and this will bring a total change to your life.
You also take responsibility of your own development, by developing and gaining understanding of the element of Reading.
NOBODY WAS BORN A STUDENT, NOR DO YOU BECOME ONE BY ENROLLING IN SCHOOL OR COLLEGE.
BEING A STUDENT IS SOMETHING YOU LEARN TO BE, A ROLE YOU MUST GROW INTO.
THE BEST SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, TEACHERS, PROFESSORS, AND THE BEST COURSES IN THE WORLD, CAN’T ACHIEVE ANYTHING FOR YOU WITHOUT YOUR ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT IN READING.
ONLY YOU CAN TURN YOURSELF INTO A STUDENT. ONLY YOU CAN GET YOURSELF TO READ.
We admit there’s much to dislike about being a student because you’re controlled and directed by adults, who are always evaluating you, seeking proof of your progress, your grades, cause your anxiety, anguish and sometimes embarrassment.
We know that Reading is hard but it’s one thing that you must have to excel in life that will bring a lasting change to you.
