A Kano based Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Bello Usman has admonished Muslim faithful to abstain from telling lies.
He gave the admonition on Friday in Kano while delivering sermon before congregation prayers.
Sheikh Usman, who is also the Chief Imam of Zaid bin Sabit Mosque, Maikalwa, Naibawa, Kano, told the congregation that truth is a sign of faith adding that those who engage in lies as a way of life will have painful reward hereafter.
“It is sad that people have turned away from truth and constantly embrace lies for their earthly benefits.
“If you observe, today, you will see that even people with grey hair are telling lies. The society is now infested with people who engage in lies in their daily activities,” he said.
Usman emphasized that a liar can never prosper – they are always enmeshed in tribulations.
He, therefore, caution believers to remember that the world was not their permanent home.
Sheikh Usman prayed Allah to separate the people from lies which, according to him, is a cancer that destroy society.
