Report from Jos, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria says, a private school, Saint Academy, has collapsed resulting in multiple fatalities
Our Correspondent reports that the school, located on Zaria Road, Jos, which housed classrooms and administrative offices, crumbled on Friday morning during school hours while the students were writing exams.
The Students and staff were trapped beneath the rubble.
Emergency responders and volunteers rushed to the scene, working tirelessly to extricate victims from the wreckage.
86 lives were lost, and several others with various degrees of injuries were rescued and taken to Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos.
The cause of the collapse is currently unknown and under investigation.
Concerns have been raised about the structural integrity of buildings in the area, and the Plateau State Government has promised to conduct a thorough probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The community is in mourning, with condolences pouring in for the families of the victims.
The Plateau State Government has also promised to offer support to those affected, and expressed his condolences and promised to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.
