Saudi Medical Team Saves Life Of 70-Year-Old British Pilgrim

Report from Makkah, Saudi Arabia says, a medical team at Ajyad Emergency Hospital in Makkah has saved the life of a 70-year-old British pilgrim, who suffered from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) while performing Umrah.

ARDS is a life-threatening condition where the lungs cannot provide the body’s vital organs with enough oxygen.

The Makkah Health Cluster stated that the medical team at the Hospital was able to deal quickly with the case with the provision of emergency services after receiving information about the patient.

It was reportedly found, after conducting clinical, laboratory and radiological examinations, that the Pilgrim was suffering from acute pneumonia and a decrease in the level of oxygen.

The Pilgrim was placed on a ventilator after being admitted to the intensive care unit.

His condition improved and stabilized after spending four days in the ICU.

The pilgrim was safely discharged from the hospital later.

The Makkah Health Cluster confirmed the full readiness of all the facilities of the Hospital to provide the best medical care of the highest quality.

Ajyad Emergency Hospital reportedly provided intensive medical care to 637 critical cases in 2022.
