Taraba Govt Trains 200 Students On Coding, Physical Computing

Report from Taraba State, North East Nigeria says, the government, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, has begun a 3-week training of 200 students in Computer Programming.

Our Correspondent reports that the training programme tagged “Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp 2024 at Digal Industrial Enterprises Limited, (DIEL),” is undertaken by Taraba State government through the state Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

Taraba State Commissioner of Digital Economy and Innovation,  Gideon Samuel Nonso,  expressed his delight saying  it is first of its kind aimed at exposing the young ones on digital space.

“This innovative three-week programme, is designed to introduce young Tarabans aged 11-18 to the exciting world of coding and physical computing.

The Commissioner, whose message was conveyed by the Ministry’s secretary, Comr. Amb, Mary Jonathan Tijos, explained that, ‘the program is designed to equip the students from various 16 LGAs of Taraba State within an average age of 11-15 for junior class, and 16-18 for senior class’.

“I am highly impressed by the turnouts, facilitators, and the hosting environment. They provide a friendly-atmosphere for effective learning”, Tijos said.

“As you can see, the students are excited as it expressly seen on their faces.

“Their brain is sharp and retentive now. It is salient to catch them young. There should be no procrastination on this. The state governor has backed this programme for its seamless training.

“He has also provided an incentive after the conclusion of this program”, she concluded.

“The primary goal of the Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp is to foster digital literacy and technological innovation among Taraba’s youth adding that in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, coding and computing skills are becoming increasingly vital.
