Akwa Ibom state command of the Nigeria Police Force, has commenced verification exercise to ensure compliance with third-party vehicle insurance.
The State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, personally supervised the enforcement operations of the exercise in Uyo metropolis and other areas of the state.

The compliance was a directive given by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the exercise to commence on the first of February.
It is designed to promote road safety and protect members of the public.
A statement by the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says during the exercise several vehicles without valid third-party insurance were impounded and strict warning issued against using fraudulent documents.
CP Azare emphasized the importance of third-party insurance stressing that non-compliance would result in the impoundment of vehicles.
He appealed to all stakeholders, including vehicle owners, transport unions and other relevant parties to support the initiative for a safer state.
