Traditional rulers of communities in Ushogo Local Government Area of Benue State have personally come out and stormed the busy Gboko-Lessel-Ihugh-Tse-Mker High-way and chased away the alleged fraudsters and criminals operating illegal revenue collection points in their domains.
Reports say the alleged fraudsters, who mount several illegal check-points on the road, harass and extort motorists and traders who visit the area daily on business trips.
Nigerian Kicker gathered that the traders always buy oranges in large quantities for sale in other parts of the country and were allegedly forced to boycott the markets due to the activities of the hoodlums which did not go down well with the leaders of the various communities in the Local Government.
The Royal Fathers reportedly chased away the criminals, dismantled and burnt all materials used to mount blockades on the busy road in different communities beginning from the border area at Ihugh down to the Gboko forest.
Reports say the actions of the Monarchs followed a resolution that was reached by the traditional rulers, at a security meeting held last Saturday in Lessel, the Ushongo LGA Headquarters, to rid the area of the alleged fraudsters.
