A football competition designed to foster cordial relationship between security agencies and the public has commenced in Kano, capital of Kano State, North West Nigeria.
It is organized by a Non-governmental organization – Know Your Neighbor Community Development Initiative.
The competition is also designed to sensitize the public on the importance of personal and community vigilance on security matters.
The competition is taking place at the football pitch close to Government Girls Arabic Senior Secondary School Tarauni and adjacent to Tarauni Cemetery.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Non-governmental organization, Comrade Muhammad Sani Garba, said the competition is designed to bring the security agencies closer to the public.
The Guest of Honour at Saturday’s match, Brigade Commander of the 3rd Brigade of the Nigerian Army Kano, Brigadier General, A. M. Tukur, commended the organizers for bringing the security agencies and the public together.

The Brigade Commander who was represented by Major M. A. Zubairu, said such an initiative is important for peaceful development of the nation.
Nigerian Kicker reports that Saturday’s match featured a Nigeria Police Force team – the CP Boys and a selection of team from Kundila and Daurawa quarters in the municipality.
At the end of the match, the Kundila/Daurawa selected defeated the CP Boys by two goals to one.
Khalifa Skipper and Usman Aiki scored for the Kundila/Daurawa selected while Ibrahim Bremah scored for the CP Boys.
All the goals were scored in the second half of the game. The Kundila-Daurawa team first scored their two goals before the CP Boys reduced the tally in the dying minutes of the game.
Nigerian Kicker also observed that although the Kundila/Daurawa team were reduced to ten men by the Refree after a rough tackle, they were able to check the pressure being mounted by the CP Boys to equalize.
The match played Friday the 7th of February was won by the team from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp.
The team defeated a Tarauni team by eight goals to seven in a penalty shoot out after the game ended three goals apiece.
Our Correspondent reports that the team from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will, on Sunday, the 9th of February takes on Al-Ahly football team of Kano at the same venue while the Nigeria Immigration team will on Monday the 10th of February face a team from the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Committee.
