Government Shuts Down 22 Health Institutions In Katsina State

Report from Katsina State, North West Nigeria says, the Government has shut down 22 private health training institutions.

They did not meet the minimum operational standards for basic academic and professional health training in the state.

Special Adviser to the Governor for Tertiary Health Institutions, Umar Mammada, disclosed this st a press conference detailing the findings of a government inaugurated visitation panel.

“I am concerned about the number of private health training colleges in Katsina. Many of these colleges do not meet acceptable healthcare training standards,” Mammada said.

“The panel was constituted on October 25, 2024 to determine whether the private health training institutions in Katsina were compliant with academic, infrastructural and professional standards.

“Of the 31 private health institutions across the state the panel assessed, only nine were compliant with the necessary academic, infrastructural and professional standards.

“The other 22 will remain closed until they comply with the guidelines presented by the regulators,” he added.

Mammada emphasized that only qualified training institutions will be allowed to operate in the state henceforth.
