Kaduna Govt Removes Temporary Structures Along Roads 

Report from Kaduna State, North West Nigeria says, the State Urban Planning and Development Authority(KASUPDA), has commenced the removals of temporary and informal activities along the Roads in Kaduna Metropolis.

In a press release, obtained by Nigerian Kicker, the Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Authority, Nuhu Garba Dan’ayamaka, disclosed this in Kaduna.

The release says, affected areas carried out by the enforcement exercise are: NDA Bustop, U/Dosa area, Kawo area, Mando Rounda about, Rabah Road, NAF Club Gate.

Others are, Katuru Road, Isa Kaita Road, Alkali Road, Babban Saura area(Millennium City), T/Wada area, Barnawa, High Cost Junction axis among others.

The release explsined that he action followed public announcement on media, sensitization visits and stakeholders engagement meetings to give the affected people ample time to remove their properties and vacate the places.

The Authority maintained that, in view of the successful achievements recorded so far in the urban planning and city beautification such erection of shops, containers, kiosks and signage without approvals as well as the display of wares or goods on roads set-backs were source of concern to the environmental harzard, traffic congestion and security threat in the state.

Mean-while, a lot of the affected persons, who said they were informed about the impending exercise, appealed to the government for alternative places to enable them carry out their legal business activities before vacating the places.

However, KASUPDA has again solicited for their usual co-operation for ensuring urban sanity and secure environment in the state.
