The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Abdurrahaman Abba Sheshe, commended the Zhahir Foundation for the gesture.

He said the new ward will complement the existing one by ensuring globally accepted practices in discharging women who gave birth.

The Chief Medical Director explained that the ideal thing is that a woman who gave birth is supposed to be retained in the hospital for 24-hours until ruled out for any unforseen problem.

He said due to lack of bed space in the hospital some women were being discharged right from labour ward to accommodate other patients.

The Chairman Medical Advisory of the hospital, Professor Auwalu Umar Gajida, said the new ward consist of six Consultant rooms, Nurses common room, six amenity rooms, a Pantry and six cubicles of four bed space each among others.
