2026 FIFA World Cup: Spain Defeats France 2-0 In Semi-Finals

Spain has defeated France 2-0 and has, therefore, booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with an impressive  victory over France in a high-quality semi-final at Dallas Stadium, ending the French side’s unbeaten run and underlining their credentials as tournament favorites.

The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted a penalty after France defender Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal inside the penalty area.

Spain’s disciplined possession game and relentless pressing prevented France from establishing any attacking rhythm for much of the contest.

France attempted to respond through Captain Kylian Mbappé and winger Ousmane Dembélé, but Spain’s organized defensive structure and goalkeeper Unai Simón consistently denied them clear scoring opportunities.

The French attack struggled to penetrate Spain’s compact defensive lines, while the midfield battle was largely controlled by the Spanish side.

Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Pedro Porro, who finished a flowing move involving Dani Olmo with a composed strike beyond Mike Maignan. The goal reflected Spain’s technical superiority and clinical finishing on the night.

Despite several tactical substitutions by coach Didier Deschamps, France failed to mount a sustained comeback as Spain maintained control through disciplined possession and effective game management.

The victory sends Spain into the World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina.

With this victory Spain has moved one step closer to lifting the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy.

Meanwhile, France will contest the third-place playoff.
