Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged newly inducted soldiers to confront terrorists and criminal elements decisively while upholding professional conduct and respect for human rights.
Our Correspondent reports that, Shaibu gave the charge on Saturday, June 20, 2026, during the Passing Out Parade for the 90 Regular Recruit Intake at Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State, North West Nigeria.
The COAS said the recruits, trained in Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency operations, are ready to support ongoing operations aimed at safeguarding national security.

He stressed that the Nigerian Army will continue denying criminal elements safe haven, but all operations must strictly follow the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.
He also highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued support for strengthening the Armed Forces.
“Nigerians expect the new soldiers to demonstrate discipline, operational excellence, and loyalty to the Constitution,” Shaibu added.
The Army Chief warned troops against misuse of social media, noting that unprofessional posts and unauthorized disclosure of information could compromise operational security and undermine efforts to defeat insecurity.
Reaffirming the Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property, Shaibu said the new soldiers will be key to sustaining offensives to restore peace and stability nationwide.
