Report from Plateau State, North Central Nigeria says, suspected gunmen, on Monday night, attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, killing two soldiers and a police officer before being repelled by security operatives.
Sources said the attackers struck at about 11 p.m. and attempted to gain access to the institute’s residential quarters where participants of ongoing courses were accommodated.
The assailants, however, met stiff resistance from security personnel stationed at the institute.
According to the sources, the slain police officer was attached as an orderly to a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, while the two soldiers lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire with the attackers.
