The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire has won the 2023 African Cup of Nations .
In the finals played Sunday evening the host nation, Cote D’Ivoire defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles by two goals to one.
Our Correspondent reports that although the Super Eagles opened scoring, it however lost to the superior power of the Ivorians who dominated the match right from the blast of the whistle.
At the end of the competition,William Troost-Ekong of Nigeria was adjudged the Most Valuable player of the tournament, Emilio Nsue of Equatorial Guinea won the highest goal scorer of the tournament with five goals while Ronwen Williams of South Africa won the best goalkeeper of the tournament .
South Africa also won the Fair Play team of the tournament .
In the third place match played Saturday, South Africa defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo in in a penalty shoot out of six goals to five.
