Following plenary on Thursday 23rd, July, 2026, the Senate Leadership, led by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, met with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Members of the leadership in attendance included the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin; the Leader of the Senate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi; Senator Michael Bamidele; and Senator Osita Izunaso.
Our Correspondent reports that, the meeting focused on issues of national importance and continued cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration to accelerate legislative action on priority national matters, enhance security, and drive policies that will deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
The Senate Leadership reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Executive to ensure the speedy passage of critical bills and the effective implementation of government programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
